Job Description
A Lecturer in Applied Statistics is an academic staff member responsible for teaching, research, and academic service in the field of Applied Statistics. The role involves delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, developing teaching materials, assessing student performance, and supporting curriculum delivery. The Lecturer is expected to engage in research and scholarly activities, contribute to departmental development, and participate in academic administration.
Job Specification/Requirement
• Have a PhD with thesis in relevant areas of specialization from a reputable University; in addition to membership of professional bodies. • Have at least two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in an analogous institution of higher learning and have at least two (2) refereed publications in their areas of specialization. • Evidence of or potential for research and scholarly publication • Competence in statistical software. • Ability to supervise undergraduate research projects • Experience in curriculum delivery or academic support (preferred)
Skills Required/Qualification
• Solid foundation in statistical theory and applied methods • Data analysis and interpretation skills • Knowledge of regression, probability, sampling, and basic econometrics/statistical modeling • Proficiency in statistical computing and data visualization tools • Teaching and presentation skills • Research and academic writing ability • Mentoring and student supervision skills (basic level) • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
