Job Description
The Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics is responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in financial mathematics, actuarial science, and related quantitative finance subjects. The role involves advanced research in mathematical finance, supervision of student research projects, curriculum development, and contribution to departmental and institutional governance. The incumbent is expected to provide academic leadership in the development and delivery of high-quality teaching and research that supports industry-relevant financial and mathematical applications.
Job Specification/Requirement
• A PhD in Financial Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, or a closely related field. • Proven record of teaching experience at university level (typically at Lecturer level or equivalent). • Demonstrated research output in peer-reviewed journals. • Experience in supervising postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD levels). • Participation in curriculum development and academic programme review. • Ability to secure or contribute to research grants and collaborative projects. • Membership in relevant professional bodies (where applicable) is an advantage.
Skills Required/Qualification
• Strong expertise in stochastic calculus, derivatives pricing, risk modelling, and quantitative analysis. • Proficiency in mathematical and statistical software. • Excellent teaching and curriculum delivery skills in higher education. • Strong research and analytical writing skills. • Ability to supervise and mentor students effectively. • Good communication, teamwork, and academic leadership abilities. • Capacity to apply financial mathematics to real-world financial and economic problems.
