Job Description
A Senior Lecturer in Applied Statistics is a senior academic responsible for teaching, research, and service in the field of Applied Statistics. The role involves delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate instruction, supervising research students, and contributing to curriculum development. The incumbent is expected to lead independent and collaborative research that advances statistical theory and its applications in areas such as economics, health sciences, engineering, agriculture, and social sciences.
Job Specification/Requirement
• PhD in Applied Statistics, Statistics, or a closely related field • Proven record of teaching at university level (undergraduate and postgraduate) • Strong research output with peer-reviewed publications • Experience in supervising MSc and PhD students • Ability to develop and review academic curricula in statistics or related programs • Experience in securing or contributing to research grants (an advantage) • Competence in statistical software • Evidence of academic leadership and departmental service • Membership in a relevant professional body (desirable)
Skills Required/Qualification
• Advanced knowledge of statistical theory and applied methodologies • Strong quantitative and analytical reasoning skills • Expertise in statistical modeling (regression, multivariate analysis, time series, etc.) • Data science and computational statistics skills • Research design and academic writing proficiency • Teaching and curriculum development skills • Supervision and mentorship of postgraduate researchers
