Job Description

Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physical and Computational Chemistry, develops course materials, conducts research, supervises student projects, publishes scholarly work, and participates in departmental and university activities. Contributes to research in areas such as thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, molecular modelling, and chemical simulations.

Job Specification/Requirement

• Have a PhD with thesis in relevant areas of specialization from a reputable University; in addition to membership of professional bodies. • Have at least Two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in an analogous institution of higher learning and have at least two (2) refereed publications in their areas of specialization. • Evidence of teaching, research, or professional experience in physical or computational chemistry. • Potential for scholarly research and publication.

Skills Required/Qualification

• Knowledge of physical chemistry principles, quantum chemistry, thermodynamics, and chemical kinetics. • Competence in computational chemistry and molecular modelling techniques. • Proficiency in scientific computing tools such as Python, MATLAB, Gaussian, ORCA, or similar software. • Research and academic writing skills. • Ability to support laboratory and computational-based instruction. • Effective teaching and student mentoring abilities. • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
