Job Description

Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Plant Molecular Biology and related areas, develops course materials, conducts research, supervises student projects, publishes scholarly work, and participates in departmental and university activities. Supports laboratory instruction and research in gene expression, plant genetics, and molecular biology techniques.

Job Specification/Requirement

• Have a PhD with thesis in relevant areas of specialization from a reputable University; in addition to membership of professional bodies. • Have at least Two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in an analogous institution of higher learning and have at least two (2) refereed publications in their areas of specialization. • Evidence of teaching, research, or professional experience in plant molecular biology or related disciplines.

Skills Required/Qualification

• Knowledge of plant molecular biology, including gene expression, DNA/RNA analysis, and plant genetics. • Competence in molecular biology laboratory techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, sequencing). • Basic understanding of bioinformatics and molecular data analysis tools. • Research and academic writing skills. • Ability to support laboratory practicals and teaching activities effectively. • Effective teaching and student mentoring abilities. • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
