Job Description

Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Plant Biotechnology and related areas, develops course materials, conducts research, supervises student projects, publishes scholarly work, and participates in departmental and university activities. Supports laboratory instruction and research in plant tissue culture, molecular biology, and crop improvement.

Job Specification/Requirement

• Have a PhD with thesis in relevant areas of specialization from a reputable University; in addition to membership of professional bodies. • Have at least Two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in an analogous institution of higher learning and have at least two (2) refereed publications in their areas of specialization. • Evidence of teaching, research, or professional experience in plant biotechnology or related disciplines.

Skills Required/Qualification

• Knowledge of plant biotechnology, including plant tissue culture, genetic engineering, and molecular biology. • Competence in laboratory techniques in plant science and molecular biology. • Familiarity with basic bioinformatics and data analysis tools. • Research and academic writing skills. • Ability to support teaching and laboratory practical sessions effectively. • Effective teaching and student mentoring abilities. • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
